New Year with New Skills

I am sorry that it has been so long since I posted on the blog. A lot has happened since the last post. We celebrated Christmas, lost a boy student to another school, but gained a little girl, Akiva. We are happy to have another girl in our boy filled classroom.
With the new year of school comes new skills to be learned and taught. We are working on blending sounds together to create words. We are writing sentences making sure there is a capital letter that begins our sentence, spacing between words, and a punctuation mark at the end of the sentence. We are also learning to find the key details in a story so we can better understand what the author is trying to tell us. We are distinguishing between nonfiction and fiction texts. In math we are recognizing the teen numbers, counting to 100 by ones, fives, and tens, and adding and subtracting numbers. Sheew that's a lot of things we are learning in kindergarten, but it will prepare us for first grade.
Please help your child daily with these skills so they are receiving more practice.
